Stingers Soccer Club, Soccer, Goal, Field

Stingers Juggling Club Rules:

1.   Players may only count touches with the instep (laces) surface on their feet.

·         Ball must start on the ground and be lifted into play with feet (cannot start with ball in hands).

·         Touches with the instep count toward the total number juggles.  Other body parts can be used but, they do not count toward the total number of juggles. (Ex. If a player uses their thigh to keep the ball in the air it will not be counted, but the players can continue their count with the next touch with their instep. One foot, two foot, thigh, three foot would count as three.)

·         The players must start counting again from zero if the ball hits the ground.

2.   Reporting System

·         Players need to complete the juggling in front of a team coach or DOC. Players should be given a 5-minute window to complete the competition.  If a player keeps the ball up for the entire 5-minutes, allow them to continue until the ball drops.  The directors will be responsible for any discrepancies or disputes.

·         The players, once reaching a level of achievement, will notify Kate Cortis (Girls DOC).  She will determine a time and place to hand out the prize and take a picture of the player.  Pictures will be posted to the Stingers website under the appropriate level.

3.   Levels of Achievement

·         4 levels:    50 instep juggles (Junior Juggle Club for U5-U10 players only)
                    100 instep juggles

                    250 instep juggles

                    500 instep juggles

·         Players will be given a prize with the appropriate level. Players will be photographed and have it posted to the Stingers website with their name, as well as recognized at the Stingers Celebration Banquet each year. Players who skip a level will receive the prize of the highest level only.  Ex. A player does five hundred juggles will be given the 500 prize and not the 100 and 250 prizes.

Hints:

1.   Patterns

It is helpful to establish a pattern with juggling and stick to the pattern. The weaker foot is always one that causes players the most difficulty. The quickest way to become a better juggler and more importantly develop a better touch is to work on the weak foot specifically.  A pattern for a right footed player would be two left one right and continue this pattern. This will be more time consuming and results are slower, INITIALLY.  However in short time the player will have the ability to juggle indefinitely. Dedication and discipline are the keys here and, the dedication will pay off in the long run.

2.   Goal Setting

Set up goals. The goals can be weekly, monthly and yearly. Try to achieve a certain number of juggles by each period of time. The goals become your target. Start slow and with a reasonable goal and your results will start to improve.
