STINGERS GIRLS COMPETITIVE PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY:
Engage, Educate, Empower. We will surround players with inspired, passionate coaches, foster a positive, enthusiastic environment, hold players accountable to clear standards of excellence, and use peer models to encourage outstanding individual player development. Every day we will grow. Every day we will compete. Every day we will have fun. We will produce young women capable of playing at the highest level of soccer: great individual players, terrific competitors, empowered young women, championship teams.

FOCUS ON DEVELOPMENT:
At Stingers Girls Soccer, we focus on individual technical skills development at younger ages with a progression of tactics introduced at appropriate ages and levels.  In Stingers girls competitive soccer, winning is important, but it is not the measure of success; we have a long-term goal to develop soccer players to compete at the highest level possible.  Should they choose, Stingers girls are introduced to a high level of play and coaching at a young age. Every Stingers competitive girl has the opportunity to be trained by the Girls Director.  Stingers competitive girls are placed in either the Elite Program or the Advance Program.

COMMITMENT:
U11 - U14 Stingers girls competitive teams play two seasons: fall (July-November) and spring (February-May). High school girls U15-18 teams play club soccer in the summer and fall (June-November). Most Stingers competitive players choose to participate in additional skills clinics, camps and training.

U11-U18 ELITE AND ADVANCE GIRLS COMPETITIVE PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:
Elite Stingers Girls Competitive Program - aka "Red” teams:
Elite teams represent the top 15-16 players in each age group. The emphasis for Elite teams is on developing players for the highest levels of competition and, therefore, they train with the Stingers professional coaching staff three times a week during their season and have a high expectation of commitment to training.  Elite level players demonstrate the athleticism, commitment, character and passion to become top level high school and college soccer players.
Example of Elite team participation:
  • Practice three times a week during the season.
  • Participate at the highest competitive levels of state league competition.
  • Play a minimum of 4 tournaments a year including State Cup.
  • Preseason tournament play.
  • U11-U18 teams travel to at least one out of state tournament a year. The more "successful" a team is the more out-of-state travel they will do to maximize their development.
  • Compete in the state, regional and national competition.
  • Wear Stingers issued training gear.
  • Goalkeeper training from Stingers Goalkeeper Coach.
  • Attend college showcase tournaments in high school years (2-5 a year).
  • Participate in additional summer and winter training.
  • Aspire to play collegiately
Advance Stingers Girls Competitive Program - aka "White" and "Black" teams:
The focus of Advance teams is the development of players looking for advanced professional training, competitive "travel" soccer and a desire to compete at their appropriate competitive level.  Stingers fields 1-2 Advance girls teams in most age groups.  Youth soccer players develop physically, athletically and technically at different rates.  Many Elite level Stingers players begin their competitive soccer careers at the Advance level.
Examples of Advance team participation:
  • Practice a minimum of twice a week.
  • Addistional training from Girls Director of coaching or Stingers Goalkeeper Coach.
  • Participate at appropriate levels of CYS state league competition.
  • Play a minimum of 2 tournaments.
