Coaching Philosophy:
Pride, Passion, Performance. Our aim is to educate young players as to how hard they can train and how well they can perform. We do this by providing a positive, enthusiastic environment that fosters a love for the “beautiful game” and that exposes our male players to the high intensity training that challenges players of all developmental levels. We strive to show each and every male player that he can reach a new level of performance through belief and hard work.

We seek to provide a training environment that allows each and every player to experience a sense of pride in themselves, their team, and the club itself. Through constant interaction with the Stingers’ staff and other Stingers’ players, we will help to build life-long friendships and leave each and every Stingers male with a positive feeling and a sense of achievement.

Commitment
U11-U14 Boys teams play two seasons (fall and spring) and high school boys U15-U18 teams play club soccer in the spring and summer. Many Stingers players choose to participate in additional skills clinics, camps, and training.

Playing Time
Coaches decide how much playing time a player gets during games, which is dependent on attendance at practices, commitment, performance, attitude, and effort. The Elite Stingers teams place a higher emphasis on playing time based on performance and ability. For a detailed description of the Stingers playing time policy, please download the Club’s Handbook from our website.
 Player Pathways

Elite Stingers Program-aka “Red Teams”
Elite teams represent the top 15-16 players in each age group. The emphasis for Elite teams is on developing players for the highest levels of competition and, therefore, they train with the Stingers professional coaching staff three times per week, attend a preseason team camp and have a high expectation of commitment to training. Elite level players demonstrate the athleticism, commitment, maturity, drive, and character to become top level high school and college soccer players.
Example of Elite team participation:
  • Practice three times per week during the season
  • Participate at the highest competitive levels of state league competition
  • Play in a minimum of 4 tournaments a year
  • Practice and game play during spring break
  • Preseason tournament play
  • Preseason team camp in July/August
  • Wear Stingers issued practice jerseys
  • Goalkeeper training from Stingers Goalkeeping Director
  • Attend summer camps
  • Participate in winter training
  • Aspire to play in Colorado Olympic Development Program

Advanced Stingers Program-aka “White Teams”
The focus of our Advanced teams is the development of players looking for advanced professional training, competitive “travel” soccer and desire to compete at the appropriate competitive level. Youth soccer players develop physically, athletically, and technically at different rates. Many Elite Stingers players begin their competitive soccer at the Advanced level.

Example of Advanced team participation:
  • Practice a minimum of twice a week
  • Additional team training from the Boys Director of Coaching
  • Participate at appropriate levels of state league competition
  • Play a minimum of 2 tournaments per year
 U11-U18 Recreational Soccer-aka “Inter-league Teams”
The focus of our Recreational teams is to offer those players who do not wish to commit to the demands of an advanced program with an enjoyable option to continue playing soccer. Recreational teams play in both the fall and spring, participating in either an 8 or 10 game season, depending on the level of play the team participates in.

Some Details about Recreational Soccer:
  • Two levels of league play, Southwest Quad (beginner) and Option 1 (intermediate)
  • 8 week season (Southwest Quad) and 10 week season (Option 1)
  • Practice 1-2 times per week
  • Team is coached by a volunteer parent
  • Optional skills clinic offered weekly with the Boys Director of Coaching and Staff
  • Optional participation in winter programs and summer camps
